'Grand Place' in Brussels. According to some the most beautiful market
place in Europe. These are the 'Gildehuizen'. Every occupation had its
own house, and it was a symbol of their prestige. The goldplated statues
on them refer to the 'sponsors' or were meant to show support for the ruling
government at that time.
